A two-term mayor and a big figure in Waco has passed away after a bout with Alzheimers.

Bob Sheehy Sr. passed away on Sunday.

Sheehy was a trustee at McLennan Community College for 13 years and was influential in the founding of the college back in 1965.

He was also partly responsible for moving the Texas Spor ts Hall of Fame to Waco.

But Sheehy will most be remembered as the city’s mayor during the Branch-Davidian standoff in 1994.

His service and funeral will be held this weekend at Oakcrest Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Bob Sheehy was 82 years old.
