Moody, TX — More than two dozen firefighters from seven local fire departments are still battling a fire that has burned nearly 200 acres of state park land.
The fire started at a campsite in the Iron Bridge State Park but flames carried by gusty winds crossed the Leon River and into the brush at Mother Neff State Park where the fire has been contained.
Firefighters are trying to control the blaze with water, brush and bulldozers.
Much of the brush on fire was there as a result of a recent flood.
A fire of this nature typically would not entail the collaborative effort of many departments, but officials say the key to fighting fire during windy conditions is to prepare for future spreading.
