WACO -- 21 people were indicted Wednesday for the improper use of food stamp cards to get cash to gamble at a local pizzeria in Waco.

15 women and six men were indicted on third-degree felony charges of unlawful use of food stamp benefits.

The charges stem from the federal, state and local investigation into suspected abuse of lone star cards and illegal gambling at Swift P's Pizzeria in the 1300 block of W. Waco Drive.

A raid of the place in June resulted in the arrest of Phillip Ferguson Haynes, who was charged with two counts of keeping a gambling place.
