FORT HOOD -- 3,400 troops from Fort Hood will be in Afghanistan this Spring. 700 from the Division Headquarters and 2.700 from Air Cavalry Brigade will be going.
Maj. Sgt. Nicholas Conner say they will be relieving Fort Campbell soldiers who will be coming home. "This is part of the ongoing deployment flip flops that we have here, but this is actually the first time that the first calvary division has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom," said Conner. The plan is to work with Afghan officials and NATO forces to support the government of Afghanistan in performing counter-insurgency operations.
The troops will be back home the Spring of 2012.
