COLLEGE STATION -- As if the Aggie football team hasn't had to deal with enough already, tonight the team is mourning the loss of one of their very own after a fatal head-on collision killed 22-year-old offensive lineman, Joseph Villavisencio.

According to DPS, Villavisencio was driving on FM 39 when he swerved to avoid a buzzard in the road, crossing into on-coming traffic. He struck an 18-wheeler head-on and was killed instantly.

Athletic Director, Bill Byrne said in a released statement, "He epitomized selfless service in making Texas A&M a better football team. This is a sad day for Texas A&M and our hearts are broken for his family, his teammates and his friends."

Villavisencio was a true senior studying radiological health engineering.

Funeral services for Villavisencio are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, December 26, 2011 at the First Methodist Church in Jacksonville, TX. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Texas A&M offensive line.
