WACO -- Football season isn't over yet for the Baylor Bears. The team has accepted a bid to play in the Texas Bowl against the University of Illinois in Houston. Fans, players and coaches look  to end the season with a win over the Fightin Illini.

16 years since the last bowl game for Baylor,  the team is officially on it's way to the Texas Bowl,
and proud fans say this is long over due.

"It was a big surprise because out of my four years being here I've never experienced that before," said one fan.

1994 was the last time Baylor played in a bowl game. That year, they lost to Washington State 10-3 at the Alamo Bowl. Now, the Bears are back after a 7-5 season.

In about three weeks, the Baylor Bears' hard work will have paid off when they go from Floyd Casey to reliant stadium in Houston. That's where they will meet the Fighting Illini  in the bowl game. Something the bears have been waiting on for a long time.

"I was really proud of our players and our university and our administration staying focused on the present, and the present was doing whatever we needed to do to get ourselves an opportunity to be bowl eligible this year, and our players did it. So, it's a huge accomplishment for 2010,." said Coach Briles.

Briles says they have a good opponent in Illinois who finished 4-4 in the Big Ten. Now, it's back to practice for the bears to prepare for the big day.
