WACO -- It was a terrifying situation for students at Baylor University, a lock down around 10:00 Monday night.

"I basically ran home, came home, locked the doors and shut in for the night," said one student.

It started when police say 18-year-old Sammie Jackson and 19-year-old Vernon Hart robbed a cash store in Bellmead.

40 minutes later, they hit another cash store on Valley Mills.

Police received a tip leading them to Casa Royale Apartments near Baylor.

That's where the pair were hiding out.

When police showed up at the apartment, the two men ran. The robbers ran through the back window on the second door. Police say a broken screen indicates the two busted it out to escape.

Michael Rawl lives right across from the apartment. He says he never expected it to happen so close to home.

"It is really frightening. You always expect to not be near your house, but it's not 20 feet away from my house. So, finding this out makes it less or a little more harrowing."

Baylor wasn't on lockdown for too long. The alert was taken down just before 1 a.m.

Sammie Jackson was arrested just before 4 Tuesday morning.

Police are still looking for the second suspect, Vernon Hart.

Anyone with information is asked to please call police.
