A bill sponsored to help parents of veterans who have died while serving our country passed the Senate. The bill expands access to state veteran homes to these parents known as Gold Star Parents.
One veteran, Ronald Dempsey says remembering parents is important. "A lot of people just think about the veteran. It's not just the veteran. You got people that brought the veteran up," Dempsey says, "You got people that brought the veteran into this world, you got people that sent them to school you got people that did everything they have done to give them the education to get into the service and to fight for our country. They should be looked after."
Gold Star Parents currently can only receive care if they lost all their children in service. The new bill will change that to parents who have lost any children at all while they were serving.
