BRYAN -- Kyle Field is, of course, home to the Texas A&M Aggies but come next December the stadium will be home to the first ever "Brazos Valley Bowl" presented by Blinn College, a National Junior College Bowl game.
Blinn College may not have a football team in Bryan-College Station but that doesn't mean they can't play host to a junior college bowl game.
"It's something new for our community," said Brandon Webb, Blinn College marketing and media relations. "It's excitement about football right here in Bryan-College Station in the month of December and we're excited to see what that means and how it looks for our community."
The "Brazos Valley Bowl" will be held in early December at Kyle Field and the game is expected to bring in around 4,000 out of town guests to the area.
"It's hard to think of many other athletic activities in December, particularly football related, that we can do here in town that would generate that kind of economic activity," Webb said.
And Shannon Overby, executive director of the Bryan-College Station Visitors and Conventions Bureau says the bowl game couldn't come at a better time because December is one of their slowest months.
"This is just one more event that we're able to bring in people who will stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurant and shop in our stores so it will definitely make an impact."
An impact, of an estimated one million dollars.
Both Blinn and the Visitors and Conventions Bureau say they hope to see the "Brazos Valley Bowl" turn into an annual event.
