BRAZOS COUNTY -- A Bryan woman is accused of hiring a hit-man to kill her estranged husband and today she was taken into custody.

53 year-old, Nancy Gelber, was arrested at The Grove apartment complex in Bryan after she met with an undercover cop posing as a hit-man on Wednesday.

During this meeting, officials say Gelber gave a ring as a down-payment and offered $60,000 in cash for killing her husband once she collected his life insurance.

"Well she said she wanted this done quick and to make it look like an accident. We assume that's because of the nature of the insurance policy but we were certainly concerned for his health and well-being," said Sheriff Chris Kirk.

Gelber is charged with attempted capital murder, a first-degree felony and is in the Brazos County Jail on $75,000 bail.
