BELL CO. -- FEMA has again denied government funding for the 13 Central Texas counties flooded during tropical store Hermine. Now, the counties have to look to state funding. Bell County Commissioner Tim Brown says it's frustrating to still not get any help from FEMA and says now he must look to the state for money to help those who lost everything which isn't expected to happen quickly.
"I'm hoping with some public assistance we can speed things up and get people some relief sooner, but its not going to happen quickly. It may take a year and a half, two years just to get through the grant application process to try to get some funding," says Brown.
Brown says they have sent a letter to the state requesting their assistance and are waiting to hear back. He says they could need anywhere for $12-15 million to fix the damage left behind by the storm.
