GATESVILLE -- A Central Texas man to serve back-to-back life sentences in prison for sexually assaulting his infant child ultimately leading to the baby's death.
Today Joseph Edward Allsop of Copperas Cove pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
He was initially charged with capital murder after his five-month-old daughter was found dead in an apartment back in 2005.
But a lack of evidence kept Allsop from facing the charge.
It wasn't until 2010 that Allsop confessed to the crime as well as assaulting several other young children.
Now he will serve life in prison and won't be eligible for parole for another 60 years.
