In an interview last week with Inside Texas Politics, Bill Flores said he was not opposed to raising the retirement age to 70, and that he supports privatizing social security.

Chet Edwards says that he thinks this statement is demeaning towards the senior community and disagrees with Mr. Flores. Mr. Edwards says that "there are just a lot of hard working people who work jobs, and factories, and long hours, and frankly they couldn't work until 70."

Seniors in the community, living at a senior living home, say that raising the retirement age to 70 really worries them. They say that they are more worried, however, for the children and grandchildren, who would be affected if the social security rate did change.

Mr. Edwards says that he is a supporter for social security and medicare. He believes that Mr. Flores' comment about having a headache when answering the question about raising the retirement age, insults the intelligence of our seniors.
