MCLENNAN COUNTY-- Red Ribbon Week kicks off Tuesday, and that means police officers are showing up at schools around McLennan County to spread the anti-drug message to children. Teachers say students lined up and watched in awe when the helicopter landed at South Bosque Elementary Tuesday. Police showed off their cars and dogs while teaching the children about drug abuse.
Teachers say it's important to start sending the message to say no to drugs early in life. Kindergarten teacher, Kimber Ozols, says "The constant awareness of knowing, no drugs, no alcohol so when they do come in contact with it later in life, they've had this education." Students were enthusiastic about the message and to learn about what police do to cut back on crime and drugs.
