WACO - The City of Waco employees are assisting Habitat for Humanity in building a house for the Aguilar-Monrial family at 2214 Trice. The Raise the Roof project will kick off with an opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18 and will end on Saturday, Oct. 23. The four bedroom, 2 bath home – the fourteenth Habitat home built by City employees – will provide the family with over 1,256 sq. feet of living space.

City Manager Larry Groth has given authorization for employees to work up to eight hours during normal business hours with a supervisor’s approval. The hours of construction are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Since 1999, city employees have helped build 10 Habitat homes through the annual Raise the Roof project. The City of Waco received national recognition for this project from the National Community Development Association.
