College Station man arrested on 3 different charges
COLLEGE STATION -- A College Station man is facing two felony charges after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and was caught with a stolen firearm.
Police were called to the home in the 500-block of Gilchrist Avenue last night after receiving a 911 hang-up call.
When they arrived 25-year-old Derek Bostwick and his girlfriend were fighting after she got upset that he was going to do drugs in the home with their children present.
Bostwick then allegedly turned violent and choked her because he refused to let the kids leave.
Police say he also smashed his mother's cell phone after she tried calling 911.
"He was charged with interfering with a 911 call, with assault family violence -- strangulation and in addition he was charged with possession of a stolen weapon," said Officer Rhonda Seaton. "When officers checked the serial number on the weapon that they found they found that it had been stolen."
Officer Seaton says this isn't Bostwick's first run-in with the law.
He's currently in the Brazos County Jail on $14,000 bail.
