The debate over oil and gas is nothing new. Now, Central Texas Congressman Bill Flores blames President Obama, for the decline in domestic oil production.
Sine the drilling ban, Flores says our reserves have not been replaced, causing higher oil and gas prices. Gas prices in Central Texas are up to three dollars per gallon, and experts say that without more resources, prices will continue to increase.
Flores says there are several ways to reduce prices at the pump. He says, "We would speed up the permitting process for deep water drilling. We would get rid of the slow down in issuing shallow water drilling permits. We would make our publicly available lands accessible for domestic drilling."
Other people we spoke to say there is a greater issue at hand, and Obama is not the one to blame. Karen Petree, county Democrat party chair, believes a lot of it has to do with our "recent inability for Democrats and Republicans to work together,"
Until Legislators can agree on a solution, expect to keep paying more at the pump.
