Fire damages future police headquarters

WACO -- An early morning fire damaged the building that will serve as the future police headquarters in Waco.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire that was reported just after 1 a.m. at the Hillcrest Medical Tower at 31st and Pine Avenue.

Fire crews arrived to find flames coming from the roof and upper levels of the 11-story building that is currently being renovated for the new police headquarters.

The flames were put out around 2-30 a.m.

The extent of the damage is not known but fortunately no one was injured.
