WACO -- Flu cases are also on the rise  even though it's almost the end of flu season. Cases tripled in Jan. in McLennan County.

Sparking a new awareness campaign. It's called, "Are you that guy?"

"That guy" is the person who goes about their daily routine even though they feel flu symptoms, spreading the virus.

Health officials say a lot of people admit to going out in public even though they are contagious.

"A lot of people think that, you know, I feel real achy, I have a cough, fever, I can still go to work. No. If you are feverish, you need to stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever has gone away," said McLennan County Health District Spokeswoman, Jacqueline Walker.

We've had nearly 1,500 cases of the flu in Jan. alone in McLennan County.

Officials say the virus can travel five to six feet from a sneeze or a cough so it's important to stay home if you have it.

You can get a free flu shot at the health district on West Waco Dr. Click here to learn where to get a voucher to receive a cheaper vaccination.
