Food donations in memory of murdered firefighter
In memory of the tragic death of a fellow fire fighter, the Waco Fire Department is helping collect food this holiday season.
Ramonell James, 55, was said to be very generous, and donating to food pantries was always very important to him.
But in 2009, James was shot and killed by his son.
Since then the Waco Fire Department at Station 11 puts it upon themselves to donate in his memory.
"This time of year it's important for sure for anybody, I mean this is an ongoing thing. We do it in memory of him because it was something that was special to his heart before we lost him tragically in 2009. It's not just about his memory, it's about the right thing to do for families that are less fortunate than us," Firefighter Philip Burnett said.
If you'd like to donate to food for families you can drop off non-perishables food items at any Waco Fire Department from now until November 18th, to benefit the Caritas Food for Families food drive.
