CORYELL COUNTY -- A former Coryell County jailer gets what some are calling a slap on the wrist for his part in a jail smuggling ring.

Jake Nelson Rhoades was sentenced to 3 years probation Monday.

He and five others were investigated back in March after a source tipped off the sheriffs' office that the group was smuggling tobacco into the county jail.

The others are still awaiting trial and have been charged with criminal conspiracy, a felony offense.
