WACO -- Waco High School football is working hard to get their first district title in 4 years and at 2-0 in district play they're well on their way.

And now for many Waco student athletes they're also on their way to college.

Coach Kay Murphy is now the academic advisor for student athletes.

But before that she recognized the athletic talent at Waco high as well as the lack of direction to get them into college.

So she began to help students search for colleges, complete applications and find scholarships.

So, if there's a will there's a way.

And it's through coach Murphy's will that 70 to 80 percent of student athletes are now actively pursuing going to college.

What keeps her going?

"Someone did it for me. Without some of my coaches in my past, I had the pleasure of playing in a program a lot like this one. As I get tired when I'm working with these kids, I remember that a coach did it for me and had I not had them I'm not sure where I'd be right now," said Murphy.
