WACO -- With a search warrant in hand, federal, state and local officers raided Swift P's Pizza store for illegal gambling.
Sgt. Patrick Swanton said the search warrant went flawlessly.
"Tactical officers made entry on the business. They took into custody a suspect at this point. That will be charged with two counts of keeping a gambling place," said Swanton.
Police have been investigating 46-year-old Phillip Haynes for several months.
"This will be an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be filed," said Swanton.
During the search police found at least five gambling machines in the back of the store.
"There are video poker machines in the back. There's, several machines there in the back that the owner has allowed the illegal, illegal gambling to occur on," said Swanton.
Police are hoping the raid helps keep the surrounding area safer.
"This is an area for open air drug marketing and that is part of the reason we are out here as well," said Swanton.
Surrounding businesses wouldn't go on camera, but police say they're glad to see businesses like this get cleaned up.
"They want their neighborhood back they want their businesses back. They want people to be able to come into their businesses here. The homeowners that live in this area wanna be able to come into their homes without knowing, that they're gonna have to deal with somebody that's possibly trying to sell drugs."
Haynes was booked into McLennan County Jail and police say the investigation is ongoing.
