Waco-- Students across the area celebrated see you at the pole this morning at their local, public high schools. Students arrived at school early to gather with their peers around the flag pole, in order to worship and pray at their free will.
Two seniors at Midway High School, Hannah Powers and Jonathan Patterson, helped orchestrate the event early this morning before school started. They were pleased with the turnout, even though they said more people were there at last years event. They both said they are happy to live in a country where they are able to vocalize their religoius beliefs, and they feel like it helps draw their peers together.
Mr. Patterson said, "We're guaranteed by the constitution to have the ability to public gathering peacefully, and I mean, were not trying to impose beliefs on anyone. It's for ourselves and I'd rather encourage them to be outspoken about their faith because we really all just want to understand each other better."
Students say they enjoys being able to freely worship with their friends right outside their school, and think it is a wonderful way to start the day.
