Even Miss Texas was there along with several community leaders to give out Valentines to veterans in the hospital.
Rep.Charles "Doc" Anderson gave his proclamation to the VA, and mayors from around Central Texas were there.
Waco Mayor, Jim Bush, told Fox 44, any time is a good time to honor our heroes.
"Valentines is just an ideal day to show love and respect to the veterans from all the wars and conflicts of this country. It's enduring. Today's a salute to hospitalized veterans in particular."
Veterans say a it's nice to know people appreciate what they have fought for.
"It's really nice. Lots of folks don't get to see that, and there's so many that can't ever see it again," said Vietnam Veteran, James Edwards.
Local schools were also there to show their appreciation, and from what we saw, the veterans really seemed to get enjoy talking with Miss Texas and city leaders.
