An 18-year old woman was taken into custody Monday for injuring her baby.
Killeen Police arrested 18-year old Jasmine Janae Morris after claims made by Child Protective Services.
Officers were called to the 400 block of Elms to reports of a 3-month old child that had been burned and was in Child Protective Services custody.
When police arrived, they were met by a case worker who told them the child’s mother had come to the office and wanted to give up her child after she had harmed her. After speaking with the baby’s mother, the officers placed her under arrest and booked her into the Killeen City Jail. The child was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.
On Tuesday, the case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and Jasmine Janae Morris was charged with injury to a child.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin set her bond at $100,000; she will be transferred to the Bell County Jail later today.
