KILLEEN -- Killeen police are now a part of an interactive crime map system that shows the location of crimes, what type of crimes they are and the frequency of areas being hit.

The website is called Raidsonline.com and allows viewers to choose their location and see what's happening, crime wise, in the area.

This may help people choose safer places to live, work or play in the Killeen area as well as be more aware of certain areas where crime rates are higher.

"By making the public aware of what's going on in their community, we hope that will spur them to work with us in order to protect themselves and make their community a safer place to live," Intelligence Manager for Killeen Police, Scott Dickson said.

The map also allows you to set up crime alerts so if you want to know if something has happened near you, the system will alert you of any criminal activity within a day of it happening.

This is happening in Waco also. In the past year, I have found 2 pit bulls in my neighborhood the were deas and mangled. Both dogs were dumped in the same location.
