MARLIN -- A Marlin Police Chief is out of the hospital after a crash during a high-speed chase last night.
Police say the chase started on Highway 6 when driver James Stimmel wouldn't pull over.
Chief Allen was following Stimmel on a gravel road and lost control, hitting a fence post.
He was taken to a local hospital.
The chase still continued on, stopping after spike strips were set up, blowing out the tires.
That's when officers realized a small child was also in the car. The child was okay.
Now Stimmel is charged with DWI with a minor, evading arrest and endangering a child.
