Overnight shootings leave 2 dead

Killeen Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred in Killeen overnight, leaving two people dead.

The first incident happened near the intersection of Conder Street and Zephyr Road. Officers were called to a shots fired report at around 9:49 p.m. When police arrived, they found a 41-year old man with gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had crashed through a fence and into the backyard of a house.

He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his wounds. He was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin. The body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The second incident happened in the 1300 Block of Monroe Loop. At around 12:12 a.m. officers were called to in reference to a shooting victim. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, then seeing the victim lying on the ground near the sidewalk. Officers found a 20-year old woman who had been shot.

The victim was take to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m. Her body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy. The female's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

At this time there is no indication that these two incidents are related.
