COLLEGE STATION -- The former director of the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley is finally in jail tonight, almost two and a half years after his case was appealed.
P. David Romei will now serve 30 days in the Brazos County Jail after losing his appeal on a 2008 theft conviction.
Romei was found guilty of stealing $7,400 in city funds and jurors also convicted him of misapplication of financial property, for using $750 in Arts Council money for campaign donations.
Romei is also forced to pay $268,000 dollars in damages.
That money will be split between the city of College Station and the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley.
