CENTRAL TEXAS -- Something you don't normally think about during the holidays is crime.

Police say with the holidays comes more crime and robberies.

There were 14 reported convenience store robberies in Nov. in Waco, and more were added to this list this month.

Just two weeks ago,18 car break-ins in College Station in one night.

While the numbers were unusual to Waco and College Station Police, it's nothing they say they don't expect.

""A lot of these crimes are crimes of opportunity," explains Sgt. Roseborough with Waco Police. "You know, someone walks along and sees a bunch of packages in your car, and they want to take something from you, then all that stands between them and something in your car is a piece of glass."

Police warn everyone to take all valuables from vehicles when you leave and say lock your homes and be aware of your surroundings because criminals look for people not paying attention.
