WACO -- With over seven million Texans expected on the road this holiday weekend, TxDOT is doing something to help make that Christmas commute a little easier.

In an effort to relieve congestion on I-35, the Texas Department of Transportation has reduced toll prices in the Austin area.

Starting tomorrow trucks can take the 130/45 Southeast toll bypass, known as Mopac, and avoid I-35 traffic for a reduced rate of nine dollars or less.

Which is 67 percent less than the normal rate.

"The more vehicles that we can take from the interstate and put onto our tollway, the fewer vehicles we have congested, the greater the safety overall on the facility," said Ken Roberts of TxDOT.

Roberts said this will help I-35 traffic throughout all of Central Texas.
