TEMPLE -- Two more robberies in Temple last night bringing the total count to 26 since December 1st.

Last night around 7:30 a man sitting in his car outside the Wilson Park Recreation Center was approached by two men, one with a hand gun, was forced to empty his pockets and the two robbers took off.

Again, around 11:30 last night at a Shell station on the 2500 block of South 5th Street, two men walked into the store with hand guns and demanded cash. One suspect then hit a customer on the nose and then left.

"We are working very hard on these cases and we are moving lots of our own resources and asking some of our neighboring agencies to assist us," Temple Police Chief Gary Smith said.

Now, Temple Police are asking for your assistance. A $25,000 reward is in place for anyone who gives the police enough information on any armed robbery case that insures an arrest.

"We have information, but the problem that we have today is our information is not actionable. So we need someone who's got some intimate knowledge of what's going on in the community to come forward and tell us what they think is going on and give us that information that we can move forward with," Chief Smith said.

For a city typically with only single digit robberies in a month, some are concerned.

"My wife was concerned because there had been some break-ins in our neighborhood and she was extremely upset," one Temple man said.

But others...

"Oh no, no, no, no, not at all, not at all," another man said.

But police say an area to specifically avoid at night is:

"Near the intersection of 34th and Adams. We know that that area is of concern to us and the people that live, work and play there," Sgt. Brad Hunt, Temple Information Officer said.

But so far we're told citizens are doing their part to help keep the city safe.

"Be aware of what's going on and who's in the neighborhood and just keep our eyes open.
