AUSTIN, TX -- A proposed law could give service-disabled veterans' companies HUB status.
HUB stands for Historically Underutilized Businesses. That means they would receive more grants from the state.
Alexis Marks is a disabled veteran who started a web design company in Waco.
She says starting a company after returning from war was one of the hardest things to do. Marks believes helping people who volunteer their lives for war is a good thing.
"That's something I think we should recognize, and also the fact that when businesses thrive it helps the local community and they are creating jobs for others," says Marks.
HUB businesses currently include minority and women-owned businesses.
