Soldier's name released in deadly car accident

FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Oct. 23 at Fort Hood from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

Corporal Jason Anthony Savage, 24, of Mineral Wells, Texas, joined the military in June 2008 as an infantryman and was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 5th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since October 2008.

Savage deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2009 to January 2010.

Savage's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with combat service star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism
Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Combat Infantry Badge.
