Stolen property sting nets 4 arrests
UPDATED: Friday, April 13, 2012 - 9:54am
In the past week, the Bryan Police Department has arrested 4 people for purchasing stolen property.
The alleged burglars were informed that the items were stolen and they knowingly purchased the items from an undercover officer. The purchasing or possessing of stolen property is a crime by state law and encourages theft behavior, providing an outlet for thieves. It is the goal of the Bryan Police Department to break the theft cycle and prevent continued victimization of our citizens.
The Police Department periodically conducts these types of operations in order to discourage the trade of stolen property. By reducing the market for stolen property we can reduce the number of thefts in our community. We encourage our citizens to report any suspicious sales of items to the Bryan Police Department by calling 979-209-5300 or contacting Crime Stoppers anonymously at 979-775-TIPS.
