BRYAN -- Three Bryan families are without a home tonight and one person is recovering in the hospital after a driver crashes through their apartment complex.
Late Friday Night police received a call from a concerned driver who had almost been hit by 21-year-old Austin Hasten.
According to the police reports, Hasten was driving down Villa Maria, struck two cars then crossed into on-coming traffic, jumped a curve and drove straight into the West University Gardens Apartment complex.
"He actually fled the scene, stripped down to his boxers and police finally caught him. Originally at first he was really cooperative but eventually became violent and actually punched the officer in the face a couple of times and they eventually got him restrained." said Jon Agnew, Bryan police.
Hasten later admitted to police he was high on mushrooms.
He's been charged with two counts of hit-and-run and one count of assaulting a police officer.
He remains in the Brazos County Jail on $28,000 bail.
