Nearly ten percent of all hotel rooms along I-35, through Central Texas, are infested with bed bugs.

Bugsdotcom, a termite and pest service in Waco, receives multiple phone calls a week regarding bed bugs. They say this problem is continuing to spread around the area.

Because bed bugs are sometimes difficult to locate, most people are not aware they are sleeping on an infested bed.

The bugs can usually be found in the creases of mattresses, or on direct skin, but most go undetected why they stick to clothing. In this case, the bugs can travel, spreading the problem to other locations.

To prevent bed bugs from spreading, experts say that when travelers leave for the holidays, to check hotel bedding, mattresses, and headboards, before unpacking.

Taking these precautions is helpful, but sometimes, bed bugs can be extremely difficult to spot. The most effective way to get rid of the bugs, is calling a pest service who can treat the problem, and ensure the bed bugs no longer exist.
