Two in critical condition after police shooting

BRYAN -- Two men are in critical condition after being shot by a Bryan police officer Friday morning.

It happened at 801 N. Texas Ave. Two police officers were responding to reports of a suspicious person. 

 One of the officers identified Johnnie Harris, Jr. as the suspect who appeared to be intoxicated.

When officers approached Harris, he ran.

The officers chased him and a struggle broke out. That's when one of the officers shot Harris several times.

A bystander, Juan Garcia, was struck by a stray bullet.

The two officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.

The Bryan Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call them at 979-209-5316.
