WACO -- Local sheriff's from two of the largest Central Texas counties plan to retire after this year.
McLennan County Sheriff Larry Lynch officially announced in the Waco-Tribune Herald he will not run for re-election.
64-year-old Lynch has been sheriff since the 2000 and plans to hold a news conference to discuss his decision.
Meanwhile in Bell County, Sheriff Dan Smith released a statement announcing his retirement.
After serving as sheriff for 28 years Smith plans to leave office at the end of his current term on December 31, 2012.
