WACO -- "This is our biggest day of the year," said Hewitt Florist owner Kathy Sommerkamp.

"Today between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. we will be extremely busy because school will be out," said Rick Winters, general manager of HEB in Hewitt.

It's the day before Valentine's and local shops are stocked full of flowers, chocolates and teddy bears.

So if you haven't bought anything yet, don't worry.

They've got you covered.

"Everybody does things always at the last minute," said Sommerkamp.

"Around 7:00 p.m. is when it really gets exciting all the men start showing up, for their sweethearts," said Winters.

And the most popular gift.

"Well I'm going to get her some roses," said Curtis, a shopper at Hewitt Florist.

"Roses," said Sommerkamp.

"Dozen roses," said Winters.

And though it's typically thought of as a day for couples, February 14th can also be a day to celebrate friends and family.

"All of the above. Some of them want to send to their, children," said Sommerkamp.

"We'll see a little bit for their daughters, you know the dads will come in for their daughters," said Winters.

But regardless who it's for this sweet day is all about the love.

"You have birthday's you have anniversaries but Valentine's is a little special because it's somebody that's close to your heart," said Winters.

"Valentine's is a day where they can say on a very special day, I love you," said Sommerkamp.

"One day out of the year it's my responsibility to let her know how much I care and appreciate her," said Curtis.
