Waco ISD is definitely feeling the financial squeeze after another round of Texas budget cuts.
Though they have faced other budget cuts in the past, Waco ISD spokesperson Dale Caffey said this one is the largest. However, he guarantees the districts commitment to education will not change.
“I can guarantee you that even though we’re leaner, we’re also going to continue to operate in a way that best serves our students,” Caffey said.
Caffey said each school and administrative department is taking a 5 percent budget cut. Right now most of the personnel cuts are being resolved through attrition. $2.9 million is being taken out of the districts savings.
The budget for 2013 will start being written up next month.
