WACO -- More options have been presented to the Waco ISD school board regarding the possible closure of eight campuses.

During last nights board meeting superintendent Bonnie Cain presented an alternate plan that would relocate A.J. Moore Academy to one of the Waco ISD high school campuses.

This plan would also close Alta Vista and Lake Waco montesseri schools and consolidate them at Brazos Middle School.

Officials say closing these campuses would save the district money.

"The Texas school districts are under funded and we are going to lose another $3.4 million next year. Therefore, we have to look at every penny we spend and right now we are making certain that all the money we spend on facilities is appropriately and adequately used and there's not any fat in that," said Cain.

Cain said the board will refine the plan this weekend and give presentations to the community in January.

Discussions among the board will then continue into February.
