Waco Police participated in the D.E.A. “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” program this past weekend. We collected over three and a half large trash bags full of drugs. The approximate weight is one-hundred pounds of various prescription drugs.

The public was invited to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs in a receptacle at the Waco Police Department for destruction by the D.E.A. The type of drugs returned range from vitamins, sleeping pills, pain killers, antibiotics, weight loss medication, AD/HD pills, cough syrups, and even several syringes as well.

These items will be released to the local D.E.A. office for the proper disposal. The take back program was established to prevent abuse and avert potential safety and health hazards.

Waco Police are touting this weekend’s prescription take back as being very successful.
