WACO -- Many home owners feel they need to sacrifice their lawn to conserve water, but landscaper Brent Ackors said there are ways to keep your watering system efficient.

"You can call a licensed irrigator and have them come out and do an audit, and you can audit it your self. You can just go through the stations and just make sure you don't have any big geysers or leaks," Ackors said.

One of the most common problems people have is when they set their controller in the middle of the night and they never check it during the day they could have huge leak just like this one and never even know it.

To avoid this problem, take a close look at your controller.

"Call a licensed irrigator have them come look at your control box and see if your is enabling you to get the most efficiency as possible," Ackors said.

As a landscaper,Ackors appreciates the value of water and said with a little attention, it's easy to conserve.

"Every drop counts, water is becoming so precious. Especially in times like this when we're not getting any rain fall."

There's a variety of irrigation equipment to help ensure the quality of your lawn. If you don't want to do it yourself, professional care will cost about 10 to 15 percent more.
