COLLEGE STATION -- On any given weekend it isn't unusual for College Station police to make arrests in the Northgate District but this holiday weekend proved to be busier than normal.
More than 15 people were arrested for various reasons on Saturday including: disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated and public intoxication.
Lieutenant Rodney Sigler says they didn't even make a special effort to crack down on alcohol-related offenses but believes tonight's holiday played a factor.
"You know, when people dress up as if they are someone else, the inhibitions maybe tend to dissipate a little bit so they might do things they wouldn't normally do so that tends to be the case sometimes."
Lieutenant Sigler also says Saturday's A&M home football game against Mizzou was another contributing factor to the rise in arrests because of the early kick-off, fans tailgated all day long.
