Vacant Killeen house burns for second time
Killeen, TX — The Killeen Fire Department ran into a sticky situation last night when battling a house fire.
A vacant home on Mimosa Drive caught fire yesterday evening in Killeen.
Even though the house has been empty for the past two years, electricity was still wired to the place.
Service had to be disconnected before fighting the fire.
The house, which has caught on fire twice now, is surrounded by other vacant homes.
One neighbor said people break into the homes at night and may be the ones responsible.
“I don’t know if it is homeless people causing these fires but they’ve been breaking windows out of these other houses and spraing graffiti on them," said Jimmy Harvey.
The city has condemned the building and is set for demolition.
