Possibly related

Waco Police are now investigating whether two armed robberies on Sunday were related.

On Sunday night just after 8P.M, two girls were robbed by a masked black man with a shotgun in the parking lot of their University Club apartment at 1725 MLK Boulevard.

The man did not get anything and fled the area in a dark car with a driver.

The two girls had let the man's car follow them through the gated entrance and were confronted as soon as they parked.

Just two hours later and a mile down the road, a home owner was robbed by a masked Hispanic male with a shotgun after a knock at his front door in the 1800 block of Pine Avenue.

The robber left that crime with the man’s wallet.

Police say the two incidents may have been avoided with a little more precaution.

“Be aware of what’s around you. Know who is coming or going near your vehicle and where you’re thinking about parking," said Sgt. Patrick Swanton of Waco.

“It’s OK to call 911 and say 'somebody’s knocking on my door. I’m not expecting anybody. I don’t know who it is. They’re not answering me when I ask who it is.' Just use precaution and try to safeguard yourself.”

Police are still investigating the two cases.
