
Copperas Cove, TX — According to the police report, on February 25, at 9:17 p.m., Copperas Cove Police responded to 710 South 11th Street, in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers met with the male resident outside and learned he and his wife had a verbal argument. They further learned the female had since locked herself and their 9-year-old female daughter inside the residence and that there were firearms present.
The female eventually cooperated and allowed access inside the residence. Officers learned one of the weapons, a loaded .22 caliber rifle, had been hidden by the female underneath the bed mattress in the child’s bedroom. The firearm was located and no injuries were reported during this incident.
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old female Copperas Cove resident Brenda Lee Fies. She was arrested and transported to the Copperas Cove Police Department where she was charged with Abandoning/Endangering a Child and Interference with Public Duties. On February 26, Brenda was arraigned by Coryell County Justice of the Peace John Guinn and received a $22,000 Personal Recognizance Bond. She has since been released from custody.
