On November 5th, the three-year anniversary of the mass shooting, 148 plaintiffs are claiming the US government was negligent in their handling of the shootings.
The suit alleges that defense officials disregarded the safety of those on base and let Hasan be in position to carry out the shootings despite knowing he was a “radical extremist.”
They also claim the Defense Department is referring to the massacre as “workplace violence” as a way to avoid legal and financial responsibility.
According to Neal Shur, lead counsel for the plaintiffs- many of whom are tired of the current state of the on-going trial, is seeking collective damages around 750-million dollars.
